A strong community is built on support, compassion, and opportunity. The Manning Foundation is at the forefront of this mission, offering essential services that uplift individuals and families in need. Through programs addressing food security, education, and housing, the Foundation empowers people to overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
What Services Do We Offer?
Food Security
Hunger remains a significant issue, impacting many families daily. The Manning Foundation ensures that no one in our community goes hungry. Our food security initiatives provide nutritious meals and essential groceries to those struggling to make ends meet. By collaborating with local food banks and operating community kitchens, we distribute thousands of meals each month, offering not just food but hope and stability.
Education Initiatives
Education is a key factor in breaking cycles of poverty. The Manning Foundation offers scholarships, tutoring, and after-school support to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. For adults, we provide assistance with vocational training and skill-building programs. These initiatives help individuals achieve their educational goals, creating pathways to employment and self-sufficiency.
Housing Assistance
Safe, stable housing is the foundation of a secure life. Many families face challenges finding affordable housing, which impacts their overall well-being. The Manning Foundation’s housing assistance programs help families secure and maintain safe homes. We provide rental support and connect individuals with resources, ensuring that housing instability does not disrupt their lives.
Op-Shop Program
Our Op-Shop is more than just a thrift store—it’s a vital part of our community support system. Opening in 2007, the Op-Shop provides a safe space for people to access support services while generating revenue for our programs. Operated entirely by dedicated volunteers, it offers pre-loved items at affordable prices. Every purchase and donation directly funds initiatives like our direct relief efforts and educational programs.
Direct Relief Services
In times of crisis, immediate support is essential. Our Direct Relief program addresses urgent needs through:
- Emergency Food Supplies: Ensuring families have access to nutritious food.
- Clothing Assistance: Providing essential clothing to those in need.
- Care and Transport for the Infirmed: Offering transportation and support for individuals with health concerns.
- Guidance and Counselling: Providing emotional support, hospital visits, and specialised care for vulnerable individuals, including victims of domestic violence and those battling addiction.
Christmas for the Needy
For over 20 years, our annual Christmas Lunch has brought joy to over 230 individuals who would otherwise spend the holiday alone. What started in 1987 as a small effort by Father Higgins has grown into a cherished tradition, offering:
- Delicious Food: A festive feast prepared with care.
- Entertainment: Music and performances, including appearances by our Patron, Col Joye.
- Thoughtful Gifts: Small tokens to remind guests they are valued and remembered.
This event embodies the spirit of the Manning Foundation—creating a sense of belonging and shared humanity.
Who Benefits from These Programs?
The true impact of the Manning Foundation lies in the lives it transforms. Individuals and families facing challenges such as homelessness, educational struggles, or food insecurity have found stability and hope through our programs. With targeted support, people can overcome adversity, build brighter futures, and contribute positively to the community. These transformations strengthen not only the individuals involved but also the entire community, fostering resilience and growth.
How Are We Making an Impact?
Our efforts are measurable and significant.
- 10,000+ meals provided annually to combat food insecurity.

These numbers reflect our commitment to creating lasting change.
